K-FLEX INSUL-LOCK DS (DoubleSeal) is a flexible closed-cell elastomeric insulation tube product used to conserve energy and prevent condensation on piping applications. It is pre-slit with a factory-applied pressure sensitive modified-acrylic adhesive with scrim reinforcement on the seam surface and a flexible PVC overlap tape with acrylic adhesive for doubled seam security. The system reduces installation time and costs, and ensures a strong, durable seal.
This pipe wrap insulation's closed-cell structure creates exceptional thermal properties (k-value of 0.245 at 75°F and wvt of 0.03 perm-in) that protect against moisture penetration in applications within a -40°F to +220°F temperature range.

K-Flex 320 Rubber Adhesive can be used to adhere sections together, while K-Flex Rubber Tape is used for valves and other hard to insulate areas. PVC Cut & Curl Jacketing and Aluminum Jacketing can also be used over the rubber pipe insulation for weather and UV protection.

One of the 3 tubes I ordered had a squished end and squished interior edges, so the two sides could not join cleanly. Instead the flattened edge wanted to adhere to the pipe rather than to the other side of the tube. I doubt the squishing happened in the short time of shipping; more likely in warehouse storage. On all the tubes, the interior adhesive at the tube split seemed excellent in some places, barely sticky at all in others, and in a few places even pulled away from the rubber with the peel-away paper that protected it. What saved the day was the extra tape seal that wraps around the seam. As long as that holds well, the surprisingly faulty interior joins should not matter as much. If that tape fails, then this insulation is iffy. So, the quality is a mixed bag, but leaving those glitches aside, it was easy to work with and quick to install. Would be great if it came in white.
Easy to install, seems very secure with the overlap flap, and looks neat and clean after installation. My application was some slightly curved copper pipes, and this had no problem following the curves (probably 30-45 degree bends). I bought the 7/8" version (normally for 3/4" ID copper pipe) to fit over 1/2" ID copper + a heating cable along its length and it fits very well.
In my case, there were no creases after unfolding from the shipping box like the other review mentioned - the installed tube looks perfectly cylindrical.
Couldn’t be anymore easy to apply to water lines! Simply had to slide around the pipe and seal it. Looks a lot more clean and nicer then the foam pipe insulation that most people use in my opinion.
The insulation is fine the packing is some what damaging folding this product causes creases not good for the r value.
**Doug, shipping in a 6ft long box would be extremely expensive so we bend them in half to fit in a 3ft box. The insulation and r-value should not be affected by the bend once installed on the pipe. ~BIP
