Metacaulk FRP Putty Pads stop the transmission of fire, smoke, and sound through electrical outlet boxes and light switch boxes.   FRP Putty Pads are made from Intumescent Fire-Rated Putty which is molded into a 7" x 7" pad that is  an 1/8" thick.  During a fire, the firestop putty pads will expand into an insulating char (over 220° F) and fill the void in the wall to prevent the passage of smoke and fire. Just one intumescent fire rated putty pad will provide a 1 to 2 hour fire rating!

Intumescent Putty Pads are commonly used in soundproofing a wall or ceiling to block the passage of sound waves through an electrical outlet or light switch box.  When soundproofing materials are used on or inside a wall structure, the electrical outlet boxes and light switch boxes are usually left untreated and become sound channels which greatly reduces the STC rating of the structure. When installed properly, Metacaulk Intumescent Putty Pads will maintain an STC sound rating of 60! (UL441 per ASTM E90)

Metacaulk Putty Pads and Safety go hand in hand.

Posted by Alan R. on 18th Mar 2019

Metacaulk Putty Pads and safety really do go hand in hand. They add an extra layer of fire protection of the home I am remodeling, plus they are great at providing an air seal around my electrical boxes in the walls, and in the ceiling. Additioanlly they do not allow any insects to get into the ceiling boxes and eventually landing in the ceiling light fixtures. Is there any reason why you aren't using this product? I know I will continue to add this layer of protection.
