Unit Of Measure:
Each (with Fiberglass Insert)

 Product Description

PVC 90° Degree Steam Pipe Insulation Elbow Covers are used to insulate 90° degree pipe elbow fittings. Each PVC pipe cover comes with a sized fiberglass insert which is made from die-cut fiberglass blanket. The fiberglass insert is wrapped around the elbow ensuring that all of the pipe is covered by insulation. The PVC Pipe Elbow Cover is a pre-molded plastic one-piece cover that fits around both ends of the fiberglass pipe insulation and overlaps on the inside seam. The inside seam of the steam pipe insulation elbow can be closed one of three ways:

1.) Use serrated stainless steel King Tacks which are pressed through the overlapping pieces of the elbow cover and will hold them securely. (Steam, Hot Water, etc)
2.) Use PVC Vinyl Z-Tape fiberglass pipe insulation elbow cover to the fiberglass pipe insulation. (Cold Water, Chilled Liquid, etc)
3.) Use Proto One PVC Adhesive to glue the seams of the PVC pipe cover. (Exterior Piping, USDA, Washdown Area, etc)
*Tacks, Vinyl Tape, and Adhesive are sold separately.

*PVC 90° Elbow Covers are available in 13 high gloss colors!

  1. Works really well

Posted by Joe on 2nd Feb 2017

Very easy to install & makes the overall insulation look great. I like how the PVC springs closed making it easy to install with the loose fiberglass layer provided underneath.

  2. Great looking!

The PVC elbows were easy to install and provided a very professional look when coupled with the fiberglass pipe covers.

*Vlad, the PVC Elbow covers do give a professional look to insulation projects. Glad it worked out for you! ~ BIP

  3. Neat Finish...

Finishes the job neatly. Trim to fit tight spots. Easier than mitering for elbows.

*Art, we agree that PVC Fitting Covers help differentiate a DIY project to a professional pipe insulation job! ~ BIP

  4. All the parts needed to do a professional job

Posted by Bill B on 2nd Feb 2016

For a recent steam pipe insulation project I used PVC covers of several types - three different sizes of tees and 90 and 45 degree elbows. To secure the covers I used King Tacks, which although a little pricey at five cents each are well worth it for convenience of installation and for the neat finish they provide.

The pipe insulation was a mixture of half inch and one inch thickness over 1" and 2" pipe. When used over the half inch pipe insulation I had to thin out the supplied insulation inserts for the covers, as otherwise they could not be made tight to the pipe.

This was the first time I had used the PVC covers, and I found that my thumbs were not up to the task of inserting the tacks through two thicknesses of the overlapped PVC covers. I solved this by using a fine-pointed awl to make a small pilot hole through the two PVC layers, and I was then able to insert the tacks with one hand while holding the cover in place with the other.

In several places where the pipe fittings were close together (a 45 degree elbow right next to a tee, for example), I had to trim the covers so that they would fit next to each other. This was easily done with scissors.

For the entire job I used about eighty PVC covers, and after the first few the installation went very quickly. The covers provide a very professional finish to the job, and the basement is now noticeably cooler, with the heat loss from the steam pipes and fittings greatly reduced over the old insulation.

*Bill, thank you for the detailed review and thank you for your patience with us getting your order out to you correctly. ~ BIP
