PVC 90° Degree Steam Pipe Insulation Elbow Covers are used to insulate 90° degree pipe elbow fittings. Each PVC pipe cover comes with a sized fiberglass insert which is made from die-cut fiberglass blanket. The fiberglass insert is wrapped around the elbow ensuring that all of the pipe is covered by insulation. The PVC Pipe Elbow Cover is a pre-molded plastic one-piece cover that fits around both ends of the fiberglass pipe insulation and overlaps on the inside seam. The inside seam of the steam pipe insulation elbow can be closed one of three ways:
1.) Use serrated stainless steel King Tacks which are pressed through the overlapping pieces of the elbow cover and will hold them securely. (Steam, Hot Water, etc)
2.) Use PVC Vinyl Z-Tape to seal the elbow cover to the fiberglass pipe insulation. (Cold Water, Chilled Liquid, etc)
3.) Use Proto One PVC Adhesive to glue the seams of the PVC pipe cover. (Exterior Piping, USDA, Washdown Area, etc)

Certain sizes dont arrive looking like elbows
putting these sizes together like elbows NEEDS about 5 arms/hands - all elbows should snap together
*T~ Some of the larger fitting covers (you ordered #17) are shipped unflipped from the manufacturers to protect them during shipping. These fittings will resemble what we call a Captain Crunch Hat or a knee cap. These can be easily flipped:

Easy install, professional look
I have never insulated pipe before and I had no trouble getting these to fit and look professional. I would recommend watching the installation videos if you have never done this before as they do have some good tips that will help you get things to fit tight.
There is something very satisfying about getting these fittings to go on as tight and cleanly as they do. They are easy to cut and modify if you have close fittings that impede with the cover. -
One was good
I got a 5 inch and a 6 inch. The 5 inch one was inside out - hard to explain. The inside corner of the elbow, where the seam is: those edges were curved the wrong way. Really hard to install. The 6 inch one was perfectly fine, great product. I got these instead of the Victaulic ones because they were cheaper and I thought they looked nicer. These + Victaulic coupling covers are a pretty good set. Have to notch them where the coupling bolts are, however.
*Jeremy, sorry to hear one of the PVC covers were unflipped. Anyone reading this, we do have a video that shows how to curl the fitting back if they uncurled. ~BIP -

They can handle the heat!
I’ve used these in a few steam installations. They come with plenty of insulation, and seem to hold up to the heat very well. Don’t forget to order your tape and tacks!
