The Amcraft Duct Board V Groove tool is a handheld device that is used to carve out a "V" in fiberglass board. This duct board cutting machine can be used for fabricating hvac ducts out of ductboard, as well as making a 90° Degree bend on FSK/ASJ Fiberglass Board on insulating the outside of a hvac duct. The V Groove kerfing tool can be ordered for 1" thick, 1-1/2" thick, or 2" thick Fiberglass Board.

When insulating the exterior of a hvac duct with fiberglass board, the 90 degree edges are always the hardest part if you are lining the edges of the board on the two adjoining sides, and will have one side requiring tape to cover the exposed fiberglass (the edge of the one board). Using the Amcraft V Groove duct board cutting tool, the fiberglass is carved out leaving the facing intact, so the board can be bent to form a 90° degree angle, with no messy taping required on the edge of the duct.

    Needed adjustment before use

Posted by Bruce W. on 26th Jul 2018

The red tool was for use on 1 1/2" duct board. The blades were set too shallow to make a full depth v groove which is required to make the fold work. There were NO INSTRUCTIONS included telling about having to adjust blades, nor how to set them. A simple one sheet instructions should be included, or tools should come properly set

*Bruce, my apologies, usually the tools are ready to use right out of the box with no adjustment needed. I will pass this info on to the manufacturer. ~ BIP
